Team Administration
Team Administration includes the essential tools and references needed to help team managers organize and support their team throughout the season. This section covers day-to-day administrative responsibilities such as team communication, scheduling coordination, league contacts, and general operational guidance. These resources are intended to help ensure teams stay organized, informed, and aligned with CKHA and league expectations from the start of the season through playoffs.
League Information
CKHA teams participate in organized league play to provide players with consistent, structured, and competitive game environments appropriate for their age and skill level. League participation ensures balanced scheduling, standardized rules, qualified officiating, and a clear season framework that supports both player development and team growth. Competing within established leagues also allows players to experience meaningful game situations, track progress throughout the season, and develop within a larger regional hockey structure.
CKHA teams currently compete in two primary leagues:
Buckeye Youth Hockey League (BYHL)
The Buckeye Travel Hockey League primarily serves teams across Ohio and surrounding Midwestern states, including portions of Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia. It provides a structured competitive environment focused on regional travel play, with balanced divisions and standardized league rules designed to support consistent development across all participating organizations.
Southern Youth Hockey League (SYHL)
The Southern Youth Travel Hockey League spans a broader multi-state footprint across the southeastern and southern regions, providing competitive opportunities for teams from a wider geographic area. This league emphasizes regional travel competition with diverse opponents, helping teams experience a broader range of playing styles and competition levels throughout the season.
Each league plays an important role in supporting CKHA’s commitment to providing appropriate levels of competition and development for all players.
League Scheduling
League scheduling is managed directly by each governing league and follows a structured process to ensure balanced and competitive play across all divisions. Prior to the regular season schedule being finalized, CKHA teams may be required to participate in a seeding tournament to help determine appropriate division placement based on competitive level. Once divisions are established, the respective league will communicate directly with head coaches and team managers via email with detailed instructions for completing the game scheduling process, including timelines, procedures, and any required coordination steps.
