Travel Hockey
Travel hockey involves a higher set of skills and level of play. Players must attend tryouts in order to be selected for a team. Games are played against other associations in the same league and teams will also play in out-of-state tournaments that require hotel stays.
Ages
The travel hockey program is for players in the 10U, 12U, 14U age divisions.
WHO
Travel hockey teams are for players that attended tryouts and received an invitation from a coach to play on a specific team.
Where
Practices and home games are at the Lexington Ice Center. Away games may be played in Kentucky or neighboring states (IN, OH, WV, TN), and usually are no more than 3 hours travel. Travel tournaments may be several states away.
When
The travel hockey season starts in September with practices and league seeding games, and typically concludes by the first week of March with the league tournament.
Practices
Each team will have two practices per week, and one skill session. Practices are typically on weeknights and don't start before 6:00 PM.
Games
Each team will play approximately 40 games, including league, independent, and tournament games.
Uniforms
Club uniforms are required and can be purchased through our Pure Hockey online team store. Uniform requirements vary by age group.
Extra Costs
Additional costs that can be expected are usually only related with travel, such as food, fuel, and hotel.
