8U Mite Hockey
The 8U House Program is the natural progression for players who have completed Learn-to-Play or Learn-to-Skate sessions and have had the appropriate conversation with the Director of Hockey. The primary goal of this program is to further enhance the skills of beginner to intermediate players, ensuring that they not only enjoy the game but also have the opportunity to advance to more competitive levels in the future. It is important for each player to have their own equipment before joining this program.
The practices in the 8U House Program are a blend of structured hockey drills and enjoyable games that incorporate the practice skills taught, following the guidelines set by the USA Hockey ADM (American Development Model). Throughout the season, the coaching staff organizes small area games, giving players the chance to experience cross-ice hockey while participating in game like experiences.
The 8U Travel Program is specifically designed for players who are ready to take on a more competitive environment by playing against other programs, both at opposing home rinks and at Lexington Ice Center (LIC). This program offers opportunities for players to participate in 1-day jamborees or weekend tournaments throughout the season, providing them with valuable game experience.
Based on the number of players, there are three levels of competitiveness in the 8U Travel Program: Red, White, and Blue. These levels ensure that players are appropriately grouped based on their skill levels, fostering fair and challenging competition.
