Chris Faro grew up playing hockey in Upstate New York and continued playing as an adult in Central Kentucky. In 2016, Chris suddenly passed away at an early age, leaving behind his family, friends, coworkers, and teammates.

CKHA was blessed with a memorial donation from some of Chris’ loved ones that allowed us to obtain cross- ice boards for the 2016/2017 season. As anyone who has witnessed an 8U game knows, this was a huge benefit to our organization and we are extremely thankful for these donations. Importantly, Chris’ love for hockey helped to support youth who are beginning their hockey playing years.

This past month Chris’ widow, Vicki Faro, approached me with the idea of doing even more to help the players and families of CKHA. Vicki’s idea was to start a fund for players in need of financial aid in Chris’ honor. While we have never had a fund like this, the CKHA Board agreed that this would be a huge benefit to our families.

So, in remembrance of Chris Faro, and thanks to Vicki Faro and all those who want to honor Chris and help keep kids playing hockey despite financial obstacles, we are introducing the Chris Faro Memorial Hockey Fund.  The fund is now open and will be available for players and families for the 2017/2018 season. More information about applications and review process will come in later communications.

YOU CAN HELP!

Anyone who is interested in donating to the fund can send a check or money order to:

Central Kentucky Hockey Association
PO Box 23239
Lexington, KY 40523

Please write “Chris Faro” in the memo line of your check.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and can make an impact in a young player’s life.

As we all know, playing hockey can be an expensive endeavor. For families who have an unexpected financial event, playing hockey may not be an option. This fund has been established with the hope that we can help keep kids playing hockey while their parents and caregivers recover and stabilize their household.
