Try Hockey For Free Day will be Saturday, February 25 at the Lexington Ice Center.
This program is designed by USA Hockey to provide a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport.
CKHA will host a try-hockey-for-free clinic for kids between the ages of 4 to 12 from 10:00 to 11:00 that day. This event provides us the perfect opportunity to introduce new families to youth hockey.
Please actively recruit players as this is our #1 tool for bringing kids to the organization. We are handing out over 10,000 flyers to Fayette County elementary schools, are posting on Facebook daily, and are using other forms of recruiting, but our most effective method is having current hockey families bring their friends, neighbors, and relatives to this event.
Please direct people to: www.tryhockeyforfree.com to register. Registrants will be instructed to input their zip code and will then be directed to the Lexington Ice Center. Again, Try Hockey For Free is from 10:00 to 11:00.
We ask that current CKHA players not register for Try Hockey For Free. Players can help that day provided that they respect the fact that they are there to HELP, not play. This day is about kids who are new to hockey.
We have also listed numerous volunteer opportunities for this day through DIBS. If you are in need of volunteering hours I strongly encourage you to volunteer for this event. With Squirt and Peewee families being at the year-end MYHL tournament we really need our Mite and Bantam families to help out here.
The season is winding down so there will not be many more (if any) event-type volunteer opportunities left.
Don't wait until the last minute to volunteer. We need your help!
